Michigan State University had a decision to make: extend the bookstore management contract with its long time provider or select a new partner. Wisely, they chose Validis, which faced the task of providing students and faculty top-notch service and improving bookstore operations. The first step was to build a fresh brand focused solely on enhanced customer service. And like that, the Spartan Bookstore partnership was launched.
Once established, a comprehensive and coordinated approach was taken that included implementing NBC’s PRISM. It interfaced with the store’s registers to manage inventory, financial accounting, and create comprehensive sales and order tracking reports. It was part of an easy-to-use online WebPRISM system that allowed faculty members to provide the store with following semester’s textbook adoptions. With new management and an experienced textbook manager, the store generated solid relationships with faculty and created significant benefits for students – such as more money at buy-back time and offering remote book buy-back locations around campus.
Today, Spartan Bookstore continues to grow at a rate higher than it’s peers and customer service remains high.
